Other than those considerations, this is a pretty straightforward fight. In one form, Orphan sticks mostly to basic attacks, while in the other it tends to inflict a ton of Status Ailments. Be ready to counter just about anything. Compare Orphan to other Monsters. Elemental Vulnerability. The location where this map is found. Basically, mattshaneworkman is correct. It is a miracle. They are saved and empowered by the Goddess, Etro, and it's suggested they were given a new "Focus," hence the white brand. They no longer rely on the power granted by a fal'Cie--the same power that also binds them to their original fate. Also, this is not the first time Etro intervenes within the game itself.
But Her Providence would not let it be. The Goddess pitied the fools who so blindly bowed to Lindzei's will, and so She robbed Ragnarok of power, putting the l'Cie to an early crystal sleep, Focus yet incomplete. Her Providence sought nothing. Her Providence made nothing.
She but looked on, silent in Her sorrow. The Goddess pitied mortals, destined as they were to die, and so She deigned to intervene in the hour of their greatest peril.
She averted cataclysm that was to be, and put to rest the ones who would have robbed so many of what time fate had ordained.
Her compassion did not end at this. The Goddess pitied also those subjected to that fate of Focus, crueler still than death.
To them She sent Her messengers, to deliver hope when all was lost. Last edited by Toph ; 16 Aug, pm. I typed way too much already, but I think it's also worth pointing out more one thing. The source of those datalogs entries I quoted, Paddra Nsu-Yeul, is actually a pivotal character in sequels.
It's really cool to see how small, but interesting, references like these end up coming full cycle in the end. Too frail a shell, and humans should not thrive. Too stout a shell and they would not die. Slaughter and salvation! Two irreconcilable Focuses we bore. Yet bound were we in a cocoon prison, impervious to our power. And so we thank you for granting us our longed-for birth. We are the Abandoned One, born but now to die.
Our name is Orphan. By our hand, the world shall know redemption. Orphan is a wheel-like fal'Cie with a pivotal rule in sustaining Cocoon. It rests within Orphan's Cradle in an area known as Narthex Throne. Residing within a pool in a deep sleep in a state of unbirth, Orphan is the main power source to fal'Cie Eden , enabling it to siphon power from other fal'Cie to keep Cocoon afloat. This mysterious being fuels the fal'Cie Eden with the power necessary to maintain Cocoon's complex operational systems, and as such, its death would bring about Cocoon's certain destruction.
If they can transform into Ragnarok and destroy Orphan, Cocoon's demise will be assured. Orphan is an angelic fal'Cie that has a cherub face with large eyes.
When it first appears, Orphan has assimilated the lifeless body of Barthandelus as a shell that resembles the image of parents cradling the child that is Orphan's face. The masculine entity, Barthandelus's remains, is purple with a glowing red eye. The feminine figure, the fal'Cie's impression of their creator, Lindzei , is white and gold with a large halo with crests of Lindzei's symbols on the edges, six golden wings reminiscent of a seraphim, and a long serpentine tail with Lindzei's crest at the end.
In this form, Orphan speaks through the faces of its shell, referring to itself with plural pronouns. When Orphan's first form is introduced, it refers to itself as "The Abandoned One". This mirrors classical Renaissance art depicting the Biblical Madonna and Child, emphasized by the Holy Mother of Lindzei being the center of the great wheel, giving her a golden halo.
The script engraved on the blade-like structure of Orphan's first form is a revised version of the lyrics to " Fighting Fate ". The parental figures disappear in Orphan's true form. The theme of abandonment is present in the symbolic transition to its true form, and can be seen in Orphan's position as a fal'Cie, its infantile visage, and its boss themes , " Born Anew " and " Nascent Requiem ".
Orphan originally residing in a pool inside a dimension created by the fal'Cie Eden in a state of unbirth, could symbolize a fetus in amniotic fluid. Etro's gate looms behind the final form of Orphan, and when viewed from the front Orphan's body and the gate form the appearance of an eye. Took about 30secs to beat using the same technique. Light's doom clock only made it down to about I think.
I only recommend that technique if you want a swift ending. Side note: Chocob technique appears to be pretty fast too. User Info: Dashyt Ok, I just did the ending again using Velius technique from start to finish. Took my weak squad a total of nine minutes combined to beat all three 4min first round, 4min second round and about 60 secs third round. I got the best help from IGN. Then stagger with fourth and fifth paradigm. Make sure you keep yourself healed with the sixth paradigm whenever you're feeling low on health.
Use saboteur if you can to deprotect and deshell Orphan. Rinse and repeat until the left side of Orphan starts ridding of buffers. Remember that "something judgement" is used when Orphan is close to being staggered, so do it as quickly as possible.
Like most bosses, Orphan becomes more and more difficult with less HP. Remember you can summon if things are looking bad, but I did not need to summon to win this battle. Keep everyone alive for sure! Weapons and accessories were irrelevant for me.
Boost HP maybe and give a death resistor if possible. My characters had initial three roles at lvl. It took me four tries with this method because of instant death of Fang twice, and not keeping up with buffers the third time.
This fight is hard, for sure, but this method should work eventually. Good luck. User Info: avv Well there are 3 parts to this fight and it is not an easy one.. I finally beat it tonight on my 6th Try
