Faith is a supernatural gift reserved for the faithful. Note here that it is not faithfulness but faith.
Although we cannot fully separate faith from faithfulness we can at least bring out the clear difference between faith and faithfulness.
Hence, you should eliminate the negative feeling of being neglected by God despite your faithfulness to Him and start speaking life into every challenging situation that you are facing through the power that Jesus Christ has given us and in accordance to His Word. A Christian without faith and love is no Christian at all. When we see Paul tell Timothy to set the believers an example in love, it comes as no surprise that he immediately mentions faith as well. When we consider what Paul means by faith , we are faced with two options. It could be that Paul is telling Timothy he needs to set an example in his faith: his confidence in God, his trust in God, his reliance on God for salvation and all that follows it.
On the other hand, it could be that Paul is telling Timothy he needs to set an example in his faithfulness: in his living out of that saving faith, his commitment to the Christian life, his fidelity to all the Bible commands of him as a Christian and as a minister. You must have faith to be faithful and cannot have true faith without displaying faithfulness. The deepest faith leads to the most faithful Christian living.
He wanted Timothy to have an exemplary faith. The person who has that kind of wholehearted reliance on God will necessarily live a steadfast life. His faith will lead to faithfulness.

I've heard stories of Christians who were in dangerous situations and the first thing that came out of their mouths were words of fear. In particular, I watched a TV interview of a couple of missionaries whose flight developed serious trouble. They were on a missionary journey to somewhere in Africa. They told their interviewer that they looked at each other and said, "We're going to die! It's a wonder they made it.
Their faithfulness will give them a reward before God's Judgement Seat, but it won't deliver them in time of danger. Do you remember the story of the disciples and Jesus in a boat on turbulent waters?
Let me take it a step further, if he hadn't been in that boat, the disciples of Jesus could very likely have perished. What did he rebuke them for? He said nothing about faithfulness. This is the key I learnt: Faithfulness gives you a reward, but faith delivers what you hope for unto you.
And when I have faith, I will speak and act my faith for God responds to my words and actions of faith.
